Whisky for pirates
"Very rich and oily whisky. It definitely benefits from a bit of time to open up. Initially it smells like rum. When it opens up you get banana, caramelized suger, toffee, vanilla and oak. It’s oily and the age shows as well."
Updated in 2016 with a new packaging design. Matured for 21 years in ex-bourbon casks before being finished in Gran Reserva rum casks from the Caribbean for four months. Bottled at 43.2%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Intense and vanilla sweet. Floral, hints of banana, figs, rich toffee, new leather and oak.
Palate: Initially soft, then brisk, vibrant and drying. Peppery with a touch of smoke, oak, lime, ginger and spices.
Finish: Very long, warming, dry and spicy.
Overall rating: 5.0 / 5 from 1 reviews.
