We are very excited to announce our next WhiskyBrother initiative: Johannesburg's first dedicated whisky bar! The WhiskyBrother Bar is currently in its final phase of development and, should all continue to plan, we expect to open in the first week of November. The bar, just like the store, is solely dedicated to whisky and aims to provide an environment that is conducive to learning, sharing, tasting, meeting like-minded WhiskyBrothers/Sisters, growing the local whisky community, and experiencing all things whisky.Located in Morningside Shopping Centre on Rivonia Road, Sandton, the bar has a capacity of 28 people with an additional 10-person tasting room. The design incorporates whisky-related materials, in a smart but comfortable setting, that showcases the stunning.. - Read More
In case you missed it, the excellent anCnoc 18yo and anCnoc 24yo single malt whiskies are now available in South Africa for the first time ever, and are currently exclusive to WhiskyBrother. We are big fans of the Knockdhu distillery (producers of anCnoc) and both the 12yo and discontinued 16yo have featured several times in our monthly top 5 best selling whiskies. In order to spread the word and share the love, we thought it would be good fun to gather a few whisky-loving brothers and sisters and enjoy these fine whiskies. As such we will be hosting a Twitter.. - Read More
We thought we'd provide suggestions for those looking to buy whisky this festive season, in hopes of making the experience easier; it can be a bit daunting with so many whiskies on offer. The good news is, if you need any help selecting a perfect whisky gift for that whisky lover in your life, we can help. There was some tough debate among our team in selecting these, but we settled on the below. Happy (and easy) shopping!
During November each year, the Movember fundraising initiative is responsible for the sprouting of millions of moustaches across the world. With their mo's men raise funds and awareness of various cancers and mental health; since it's inception in 2003 the foundation has raised over R6.6 billion! WhiskyBrother is a proud participant and supporter of Movember. Each year we get a ragtag team together of like-minded whisky-lovers, and we let our hair loose in the hopes of looking dapper, while inevitably ending up looking disheveled; all the while politely asking/nagging our family and friends to donate to our campaign. We'd love our #whiskybrothers and #whiskysisters to join.. - Read More
If you haven't heard the latest news from the Three Ships stable yet, then we're fortunate to inform you that the second release in the annual Three Ships Master's Collection is being launched this week! This year's whisky is a 15yo blend, with both the malt and grain components having spent time maturing in Pinotage casks. If you are not a wine drinker (like us), then it's worth noting that Pinotage is a uniquely South African wine cultivar; which then makes perfect sense as to why Andy Watts, whisky-maker extraordinaire at the James Sedgwick Distillery (home of Three Ships and Bains), would.. - Read More
We opened our doors just over 3 years ago, and like most whisky maturing in a cask, it's after the first 3 years that things get interesting! Being able to offer our whisky-wares to a wider audience of passionate drinkers across SA, is something we've wanted to do since our first day. The reality is, however, that such endeavours need resources, and as a small business our focus was to first to establish the physical store before spreading our whisky wings to try new things. The aim of the online store is to offer convenience, to both our customers in the greater Joburg area as well.. - Read More
