Closed Scotch Distilleries

Although demand for whisky is at a record high, that hasn't always been the case. Much like the global economy, the whisky industry goes through cycles of highs and lows, and at several points in history, there have been major distillery closures. These distilleries either remain closed (mothballed) hoping to produce whisky again one day, or are totally dismantled/demolished and will never produce whisky again.

For obvious reason, these whiskies are very rare and collectable (with associated price tags sadly), as they represent scarce and dwindling liquid from a bygone era.
