DESCRIPTION
Sourced from a dry-farmed bushvine vineyard in Simondium, Stellenbosch, planted in the late 1990s on well-drained decomposed granite soils typical of the ward. Grapes were hand-harvested, with 20% retained as whole bunches for spontaneous natural fermentation in egg-shaped tanks. The wine was matured for 10 months in 3rd-fill 300L French oak barrels and bottled unfiltered, with only 1 200 bottles produced. Residual Sugar 2.10 g/L. Bottled at 14.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)
TASTING NOTES
Nose: Fresh wild berries take centre stage, showing tones of raspberry, red cherry and cranberry, supported by gentle earthy undertones and subtle spice typical of the variety.
Palate: Bright, supple red fruit carries through, lively cherry and red berry notes wrapped in delicate savoury accents and faint herbal hints from the whole-bunch component.
Finish: Silky tannins glide from front to back, with a clean, persistent finish where the gentle acidity keeps the wine lifted and refined.
