This release is a WHISKYBROTHER EXCLUSIVE; selected by our team, bottled for us, and not available anywhere else in the world. |
DESCRIPTION
A single cask release from the Invergordon grain distillery in the Highlands, bottled by independent bottler Berry Bros. & Rudd. Distilled on 8 March 1988, matured for 37 years in a refill bourbon hogshead and bottled on 17 July 2025. Only 48 bottles were produced. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at a cask strength of 57.1%. (Bottle size 750ml)
TASTING NOTES
Nose: A refined expression of classic grain elegance. Aromas of sunlit barley fields mingle with notes of antique furniture wax and creamy vanilla tablet.
Palate: The palate reveals delicate notes of coconut shavings, caramel custard, and a hint of gently crushed mint leaf.
Finish: Time has gently smoothed its edges, leaving a graceful, lingering finish of sugared almonds, softened oak, and crisp linen warmed by the afternoon sun.
NOTES FROM THE WB TEAM
This is our 7th Scotch single grain release, our 6th exclusive with Berry Bros., and our oldest bottling to date! Invergordon Distillery, founded in 1959, is located on the shores of the Cromarty Firth north of Inverness and remains the only grain distillery in the Highlands. (It also briefly housed the Ben Wyvis malt distillery, which closed in 1975.) Although drawn from a full cask, it yielded only 48 bottles, a volume too low to be attributed solely to the angel’s share and likely the result of a leak after such an extended maturation. Sadly, this means this exclusive is likely to be gone in a few days.
