This release is a WHISKYBROTHER EXCLUSIVE; selected by our team, bottled for us, and not available anywhere else in the world. |
DESCRIPTION
A small batch, single malt release from an undisclosed Wick distillery in the Highlands, released in our new Old Towns of Scotland series. A vatting of several casks ranging in age from 10 to 14 years old, matured in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry oak casks, and bottled in 2026. Only 120 bottles produced. Bottled at a batch strength of 50.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)
TASTING NOTES
Nose: Malty and comforting with notes of biscuit, toffee, and burnt sugar. Hints of malva pudding alongside a gentle note of polished oak.
Palate: Cooked apple and pear with soft toffee sweetness. The mid-palate shows a creamy, mouth-coating texture that settles gently across the tongue, giving the whisky pleasing weight without feeling oily. Notes of dates and prunes emerge.
Finish: Burnt sugar and toasted oak linger, with a pleasantly drying character and medium length.
NOTES FROM THE WB TEAM
Old Towns of Scotland is a new range from yours truly that will see occasional releases of small batches whiskies, limited in number, bottled at higher strength (though not cask strength). We don't plan to do many of them, perhaps 2-3 per year, as we find parcels of whisky that we believe offer character and quality at a more accessible price. As for this, our first release in the series, since there is only one distillery in Wick, we'll give you one chance to guess where this is from!
