The timing of the 2022 harvest was similar to 2021, but a touch later than average. While ripening was slow and extended, harvest was fortunately complete before the first rains in early March. The chardonnay vines are naturally low yielding and planted on northeast facing, stony, clay-rich slopes and are affected by the maritime weather. 96% barrel fermentation in a combination of 228-litre (56%) and 300-litre (40%) French oak barrels and 4% foudre. Matured for 9 months in 1st-fill (23%), 2nd-fill (17%), 3rd-fill (17%) and 4th-fill (43%). Released in January 2023. 67,212 bottles were produced. Bottled at 13.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Unusually prominent pear and lime fruit aromas and flavours are brought beautifully into focus by a tight line of bright natural acid and a long, dry minerality.
Palate: Lovely fruit forward entry showcasing pear, lime and hints of unripe peaches. Mid-palate reveals its subtle creamy texture that coats your palate without becoming flabby or rich.
Finish: Beautiful acidity with a subtle surprising salinity. The finish shows subtle nutty notes.
