DESCRIPTION

Sourced from south-eastern–facing vineyards at 287 metres on the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, this Pinot Noir epitomises the poise of the Cape’s most elevated and maritime terroir. The vines, aged 11–21 years and rooted in decomposed Bokkeveld shale with a clay-loam base, benefit from cooling ocean breezes and a long, slow ripening season. Hand-harvested at the end of February 2024, the fruit was 50% whole-bunch fermented in large foudres and matured for 12 months in 25% new and 75% seasoned French oak. Residual Sugar 2.1g/l. Bottled at 13% (Bottle size 750ml).

TASTING NOTES

Nose: A lifted bouquet of wild strawberry, red cherry, and rose petal entwines with hints of black tea, damp earth, and subtle sandalwood. A whisper of clove and crushed stone adds depth and intrigue.

Palate: Silky and precise, with layers of cranberry, pomegranate, and spiced plum gliding over a fine-grained structure. Gentle oak integration brings warmth and dimension without overshadowing the purity of fruit.

Finish: Long and seamless, framed by supple tannins and a mineral-driven freshness. Earthy undertones and a trace of savoury spice linger.
