DESCRIPTION

The Capensis Chardonnay 2022 is a premium cool-climate Chardonnay crafted from high-elevation vineyards across the Western Cape, with fruit sourced primarily from Stellenbosch, the Overberg and the Ceres Plateau. Produced by Capensis, the wine reflects the estate's focus on mountain-grown Chardonnay, delivering exceptional freshness, minerality and precision. Whole-bunch pressed and naturally fermented in French oak, the wine was matured for 10 months in French oak barrels, 31% of which were new, before bottling. The 2022 vintage balances vibrant fruit with refined oak integration and a distinctive saline character. Bottled at 13.5% ABV.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Bright aromas of lemon zest, white peach and ripe pear are layered with citrus blossom, crushed stone, toasted hazelnut and delicate vanilla.

Palate: A beautifully textured palate of yellow apple, nectarine and preserved lemon is complemented by notes of brioche, roasted almonds and subtle oak spice. Fresh acidity and pronounced mineral tension provide exceptional balance and elegance.

Finish: Long, focused and persistent, with lingering citrus, saline minerality and a refined creamy texture that carries through a crisp, refreshing finish.
