DESCRIPTION
Released as part of Nikka’s permanent core range (although seldomly available in SA), Coffey Malt is produced at the Miyagikyo distillery in Japan. Unlike traditional malt whiskies distilled in copper pot stills, this expression is made entirely from malted barley but distilled in a continuous Coffey still, a method more commonly associated with grain whisky. Matured primarily in ex-bourbon casks. Bottled at 45%.
TASTING NOTES
Nose: Fresh and lively with citrus aromatics such as lemon and pear, vanilla, light honey and soft fruit tones (peach, apricot), alongside subtle malt sweetness and gentle spice.
Palate: Creamy and gourmand with citrus (clementine, orange), coffee, praline, vanilla cream, plum and greengage; rich malt presence carries through with gentle oak influence.
Finish: Medium finish with lingering prune, mirabelle plum, liquorice and fruit-driven sweetness.
