Not for me
"My first try of it and I am not too impressed. If you prefer a fruity taste, it might appeal to you."
Moving away from the distillery’s previous vintage-only approach, Balblair’s new range was released in 2019 and now proudly displays age-statements. The Balblair 12yo is matured in American oak ex-bourbon and "double-fired" (we believe this to mean heavily charred) American oak cask. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at 46%.
Nose: Elegant bright lemon peel layered with creamy vanilla and crisp green apples.
Palate: Ground spices and dried orange slices enveloped in intense set honey sweetness.
Finish: Creamy and leathery with notes of sweet vanilla.
Overall rating: 3.75 / 5 from 4 reviews.

"I never had the vintages but tried this and thought it was so fresh, fruity and floral with a bit of sweet and zesty notes"

"As the vintage statements pass along, the age statements come in to play and it seems there is a bit of a change on the notes. 1st thing that hits me is the young malty spirit. Earthy note on the nose followed by a sweet caramel note. Very creamy on the palate and spicy. This whisky has a nice long finish."

"I am quite a big fan of 12 year old whiskies in a range as they are generally good and very easy drinking. This one in particular is very sweet and buttery and lingers on the palate for a while. With Summer on the way, this is a good dram to have as is or with a few blocks of ice on a hot day! If you are a Balblair fan, looking for something new or enjoy the sweeter drams, I recommend adding this to your list."
