A very special release for the fans of well-aged grain whisky, in celebration of our 10th anniversary! This cask strength, single cask grain whisky is from the closed Port Dundas distillery, bottled by Signatory. Distilled in 1996, matured for over two-and-a-half decades in an ex-bourbon hogshead and bottled in 2023. Only 220 bottles were produced. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at a cask strength of 58.4%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Burst of caramel, fudge and baked sugar, backed by hints of fresh fruit and berries. Indulgent chocolate milk spiced with nutmeg, accompanied by baked pear.
Palate: butterscotch vanilla combines with plenty of fruits and toasted oak.
Finish: Long spicey with lingering fruits.
Port Dundas, built in 1811 in Glasgow, was at one point the largest distillery in Scotland and included a cooperage, piggery (who were fed on the draff/spent grains) and 138-metre brick chimney-which was for a time the highest in the world. Sadly, after 200 years of existence and in need of modernisation, owner's Diageo decided to concentrate their grain production at the vastly expanded Cameronbridge distillery, and Port Dundas was closed in 2011.
