DESCRIPTION

A tribute to Franco Lourens’ father, this Swartland red blend brings together Grenache noir (42%), Cinsault (29%), and Syrah (29%, SH99 clone from an echalas vineyard). Dryland bush vines and high-density plantings provide fruit of natural intensity. Fermented with 40% whole clusters and handled with light extraction, the wine was matured for 10 months in neutral 300L and 500L barrels before being bottled un-fined and coarsely filtered. Bottled at 13.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Complex and layered, with red and black berries, cranberry and pomegranate, lifted by fennel, fynbos and cracked pepper. Subtle notes of olive brine, cured meat and earth add savoury depth.

Palate: Concentrated yet restrained, showing dark cherry, mulberry and spice alongside savoury undertones of black olive and smoked herbs. The texture is supple yet energetic, balancing fruit generosity with freshness.

Finish: Long, dry and savoury, framed by fine, chalky tannins and a bright line of citrus-fresh acidity.
