DESCRIPTION

Advocate SA Jordaan, known as Josie, grew up in the Karoo and later returned to country life after discovering a small farm in the Paarl mountains. What began as a single block of Hanepoot grapes soon evolved into a passion project after a chance braai with friends inspired the building of a wine cellar. Two years later, Brenthurst released its first wines, including a well-received Bordeaux Blend that was exported to 20 countries before shifting focus to single cultivars such as Shiraz, Petit Verdot & Malbec

After several poor harvests, Brenthurst ceased commercial production in 2013, though Josie never stopped making wine. In 2023, his son joined him, marking a new chapter focused on small-batch, single-cultivar wines crafted with open-tank fermentation and meticulous hand-sorting to achieve exceptional quality.
