More from Red Blend
Edition Z, affectionately called “Zee” after the Zuidelijke breeze, is De Toren’s Right Bank–style Bordeaux blend, driven by Merlot (64%) with Cabernet Franc (36%). Sourced from clay-rich, ocean-facing vineyards cooled by the Zuidelijke breeze, the grapes are vinified parcel by parcel before 12 months of maturation in a mix of new, second- and third-fill 225L French oak barrels. Bottled at 14.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Generous and inviting, showing tart red cherry, jammy cranberry, and blackberry. Hints of creamy oak and subtle spice create aromatic balance and allure.
Palate: Precise and supple, with layers of cherry, cranberry, and dark berry fruit balanced by savoury spice. A creamy undertone adds richness, while well-proportioned tannins frame the wine without overwhelming its fruit-driven style.
Finish: Smooth and lingering, with ripe fruit and spice carried by a rounded tannic backbone. Approachable now but with the structure to age gracefully in the near term.
