DESCRIPTION

Whalehaven Merlot 2015 is a 100% Merlot produced by Whalehaven Wines in the Hemel-en-Aarde area near Hermanus, South Africa. A limited production of 7,111 bottles, the wine was matured for 14 months in French oak barrels, 33% new, adding structure and complexity while retaining its concentrated fruit character. Bottled at 14.5% ABV.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Ripe plum and blackcurrant with violets, dark berries, cedarwood and attractive French oak.

Palate: Concentrated and layered, showing dark forest fruits and redcurrant with fresh acidity and firm, fine tannins.

Finish: Long and structured with lingering dark fruit, cedar and a savoury oak character.
