Marqués de Riscal Rioja Reserva 2020 is a distinguished wine crafted primarily from Tempranillo grapes sourced from vines planted before the 1970s in the clay-limestone soils of Rioja Alavesa, a wine-producing region located in northern Spain. The blend includes up to 10% Graciano, which adds freshness and vibrancy to the wine's profile. The 2020 vintage benefited from a warm and rainy autumn, leading to rapid vegetative development in spring. Harvesting began on 10 September, with grapes exhibiting high ripeness and rich colour compounds. After controlled-temperature fermentation and limited maceration, the wine matured for 22 months in American oak barrels, followed by a minimum of one year in the bottle. This meticulous process results in a wine that is fresh, elegant, and suitable for long-term aging. Bottled at 14.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: Very expressive aromas on the nose with notes of liquorice, cinnamon and black pepper, with just a subtle hint of the long cask-ageing, thanks to its great complexity and ripe, concentrated fruit.

Palate: Fresh and easy to drink on the palate, good backbone and lovely, polished tannins.

Finish: The long, persistent finish leaves gentle balsamic reminders of the finest quality.
