DESCRIPTION

Van Loggerenberg Trust Your Gut 2024 draws fruit from three remarkable old-vine sites across the Western Cape. Forty percent comes from bush vines planted in 1978 on decomposed granite in the Paardeberg, bringing elegance and precision. Thirty percent is from 1981 vines in the Polkadraai Hills on granite soils, adding breadth and yellow-fruited depth. The final thirty percent is sourced from Piekenierskloof, where sandstone soils and vines planted in 1977 at high altitude contribute density, power, and a bracingly low pH. Each parcel was vinified separately, the juice allowed to settle overnight before being transferred to third-fill French oak barrels for ten months of maturation on primary lees, after which the final blend was assembled and bottled. TASTING NOTES

Nose: Focused and compelling, with a touch of flinty reduction preceding layers of pear, citrus, white peach, and dried mango, supported by fynbos and earthy undertones. The aromatics are detailed rather than showy, with precision at their core.

Palate: Concentrated yet electric, a thrilling interplay of richness and drive. The fruit is pure and finely etched, carried by incisive acidity that lends the wine its remarkable energy and clarity.

Finish: Long, pithy, and finely structured, leaving a lasting impression of tension and mineral definition. This is a wine of detail and uncompromising balance, combining power and elegance in equal measure.
