DESCRIPTION

Roodekrantz Somerkind Old Bush Vine Chenin Blanc 2024 is made 100% from 39-year-old dryland bush vines (planted 1985) in Groenekloof, Darling, rooted in weathered sandy granite soils. Grapes were hand-picked at 21–22°B in the early morning to preserve purity, then gently crushed, pressed, and settled overnight. Fermentation occurred in older French oak barrels, followed by 14 months on fine lees for texture and refinement. Bottled at 13% (Bottle size 750ml).

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Layered, expressive aromas of papaya, melon, and ripe peach, showing both tropical lift and rounded stone-fruit generosity.

Palate: Finely tuned and delicate, with a linear, fresh profile carrying clean tropical fruit. Subtle lees texture adds gentle weight without obscuring clarity.

Finish: A light, natural salinity accents the finish, supporting the fruit while bright acidity provides drive and precision, enhancing the wine’s refined, elegant character.
