DESCRIPTION

The Waterford Estate Single Vineyard Chardonnay 2022 is a premium single-vineyard Chardonnay from Waterford Estate in Stellenbosch, South Africa. Sourced from a select vineyard on the Helderberg Mountain, the wine reflects the estate's philosophy of expressing site-specific character through meticulous viticulture and minimal intervention. Whole-bunch pressed before fermentation in French oak barrels, the wine was matured for 11 months in French oak, 31% of which was new, with regular lees contact to build texture and complexity while preserving freshness and mineral precision. Bottled at 12.5% ABV.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Elegant aromas of white peach, citrus blossom and lemon zest are layered with ripe pear, toasted hazelnuts, subtle vanilla and delicate flinty minerality.

Palate: Bright citrus and stone fruit flavours unfold alongside notes of nectarine, preserved lemon and crisp green apple. A creamy texture from lees maturation is balanced by vibrant acidity, fine oak integration and a pronounced mineral backbone.

Finish: Long, refined and beautifully focused, with lingering citrus, subtle toasted almonds and a clean saline minerality that reflects the vineyard's cool-climate character.
