First released in 2000 after the distillery was reopened as a special limited-edition bottling known as ‘Introducing Ten Years Old’, Ardbeg 10yo then only joined the Islay distillery’s core range in 2008. Matured in a combination of first and second-fill ex-bourbon casks. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at 46%.

Nose: Vanilla leads to mountain of peat with citrus fruits and clouds of sea spray.

Palate: Sweet vanilla counterbalanced with lemon and lime followed by that surging Ardbeg smoke that we all know and love.

Finish: Long and glorious; sea salted caramel and beach bonfire smoke.

Reviews

For the Peat Heads

"An onslaught of intense smoke, Lemon zest, menthol and leather. With a touch of water you get some lime juice, freshly cracked black pepper and salted caramel. Pair with Lindt sea salt chocolate just for fun."

Val (5/5)

One of the best value for money whiskies

"I love Ardbeg 10. I love Ardbeg. The special releases tend to be a little hit and miss but the 10 just remains consistent and never disappoints. Wonderful citrus and sweetness with the peat delivered beautifully. Long and lingering. I don't think there has been a day in my house in the last 15 years where there has not been an open bottle of Ardbeg 10."

Ardbeg - what a distinct experience

"Lovely peaty whiskey. Review by M.D. really did cover it so very exceptionally well! I would almost like to say I would rather introduce someone to peat via Ardbeg for exactly the reason that it does not punch the way Laphroaig does and has some brilliant qualities for the price. 46% (so a bit more bang for your buck). Peat is so very well balanced with some of the other "fresher" flavours on both the nose and palate. Honestly, at this price I recommend it every day of the week. If you are new to peat and want to give that style of whiskey a try - this is a brilliant place to start."

Favourite Winter dram

"The undisputed “cheap” peat monster king. Personally I am a big fan of the Laphraoig 10, but this delivers the peat a little better."

Ricardo C. (4/5)

Mr

"Complexity at it's most complex!"

Robert G. (5/5)

Absolutely my favorite

"I fell in love with the Ardbeg 19yo a couple of years ago. Don't know if it's the taste of the whisky, the amazing ads or their cute mascot, but this whisky will always have a place in my heart. Make no mistake, it is a heavy, smokey peaty whisky, but with a perfectly balanced smoothness. Highly recommended"

Rikus R. (5/5)

Love it

"My first experience with peated whisky, the Ardbeg 10 led me into my love for the dark and smoky arts that Ardbeg does so well."

Shannon G. (5/5)

HOLD ON TO SOMETHING!

"Ardbeg 10 is one wild ride, from start to finish... Every time you pour a dram you should expect to taste a new facet to this fantastically priced Islay peated whisky. Whether it’s liquorice or crispy bacon, bonfire smoke to a bite of dark chocolate... Ardbeg 10 is your one-way ticket to Flavor Town (see you there, Guy Fieri). Just buy it already..."

Whisky G. (5/5)

Favourite Islay

"Dark, heavy and ominous smoke - forged in the fires of Mount Doom. Young orcs drink this to put hair on their chests"

Rudi (4/5)

Long, glorious indeed

"The finish is long and glorious indeed. Nose and palate is as the tasting notes say. If you enjoy strong (yet not overwhelming) peat, you'll enjoy this!"
