DESCRIPTION

Trizanne Makeba Cap Classique 2021 is produced from Pinot Noir (67%) and Chardonnay (33%) planted in 2008 on the south-western slopes of the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge. The vineyards lie 10km from the ocean at 300m above sea level, benefiting from cool maritime breezes, with Bokkeveld shale and clay-rich soils aiding water retention. Harvested in late January 2021 during a cooler season, grapes were cooled overnight and whole-bunch pressed with gentle extraction to achieve a refined rose-gold hue. After settling in stainless steel, the juice was racked and fermented, followed by nine months on primary lees. Secondary fermentation in bottle was followed by four years’ lees maturation, with disgorgement in April 2025. Production was limited to 1,000 bottles. Residual sugar: 7.2g/l. Bottled at 12%. (Bottle size 750ml)

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Delicate red fruits of raspberry, strawberry and pomegranate with ruby grapefruit brightness. Biscuit and brioche notes add texture, while subtle spice provides depth.

Palate: Elegant and well-rounded, with a creamy mousse balanced by bold acidity. Precise red fruit weaves through the mid-palate with finesse and energy.

Finish: Dry, structured and persistent, with mousse and acidity combining for a lingering, elegant close that highlights freshness and sophistication.
