A very interesting and unusual bottling under the Three Ships label and a part of the brand's long history. In the 1980s when Stellenbosch Farmers Winery were importing both malt and grain whisky in bulk this whisky was released with stock acquired through their relationship with Morrison Bowmore Distillers (the same relationship which started Andy Watt's career). The release was a once-off around 1985, and was sourced from the  Braeval distillery in Speyside, Scotland.

Additional comment: In discussion with Andy he also noted that there was only one other release that was 100% imported malt whisky was under the Buxton's label (Robertson & Buxton, the original founders of the Three Ships brand in 1977) in the early 1980s which apparently had an 8 year old age-statement.
