DESCRIPTION

Saurwein Chi Riesling 2025 is an off-dry white wine produced by winemaker Jessica Saurwein from three cool-climate vineyard sites in the Western Cape. The blend comprises 60% Casey's Ridge Vineyard and 20% Dal Farm in Elgin, with the remaining 20% sourced from De Bos Farm in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. The 2025 vintage benefited from a long, cool ripening season, producing grapes with concentrated aromatics and vibrant acidity. Grapes were hand-harvested and underwent spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel tanks for approximately five weeks, retaining 13.3g/L residual sugar. Only 11,000 bottles were produced. Bottled at 11% ABV in a 750ml bottle.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Fragrant floral aromas accompanied by fresh pear, ripe peach and crisp apple, with delicate hints of spice and citrus blossom.

Palate: Fresh and fruit-driven, displaying juicy pear, peach and orchard fruit flavours. A gentle sweetness adds texture and weight, balanced by lively, well-integrated acidity.

Finish: Refreshing and gently savoury, with lingering orchard fruit, subtle spice and a clean, balanced acidity.
