In Victoria Yards, an urban regeneration project in Johannesburg, lies the Primal Spirits Distillery, a small craft distillery producing high-quality spirit and gin. During the second alcohol ban, head distiller Irvin, who has a passion for whisky, started running new make malt spirit and experimenting with small cask maturation.
After a visit and some tasting, the WhiskyBrother x Primal Spirits collaboration was born and we're pleased to announce the first release, in a series of four, showcasing Primal's work-in-progress whisky.
Produced using peated malt, the spirit was matured for a total of 3 months in a combination of 30L American oak bourbon and Sauternes casks, that were refreshed for a week with a mixture of sherry and port prior to filling. Only 40 bottles were produced, each individually numbered. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at a cask strength of 56.2%. (Bottled size 500ml)
