Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grown on the cool, north-facing slopes of the Rondekop hill, Per Se 2020 reflects Oldenburg’s commitment to micro-parcel precision and minimal intervention. Grapes were hand-harvested and chilled overnight, followed by a five-day cold soak. Fermentation included pump overs and two rackings, with malolactic conversion completed in barrel. After 19 months of maturation in 225L French oak (55% new), the finest barrels from a single vineyard were blended and bottled. The 2020 vintage brought even bud-break, consistent ripening, and superb phenolic balance. Bottled at 14%.

Nose: Expressive yet refined, with layers of blackberry, red plum, and bramble. Secondary aromas of lavender, crushed rosemary, and green tea leaves bring a cool-climate edge, while subtle notes of cedar and cherry pipe tobacco round out the aromatic profile.

Palate: Elegant and poised, revealing a core of sour cherry, cassis, and blackcurrant framed by hints of tree bark and a savoury whisper of graphite. The mouthfeel is polished and fine-boned, with subtle oak influence giving lift rather than weight.

Finish: Sandy tannins and acidity guide a long, graceful finish. Flecks of florality and spiced cherry linger, delivering both freshness and depth. A beautifully restrained wine that exemplifies Stellenbosch Cabernet in its most nuanced form.
