The latest radical expression of Octomore was distilled from barley peated to whopping 167ppm and matured in virgin French oak casks; a first for the Octomore range. Only 12,000 bottles were produced worldwide, bottled at 61.2%.
Keen peat-heads will notice that the peating level is not as high as other Octomore releases from the last few years and that this release is a 7yo.
Nose: Powerful smoke tempered with sweet, rich oak. Dried fruit, raisin and apricot accompanied by chocolate orange, buttery vanilla with a hint of BBQ and pine needles.
Palate: Rich and sumptuous with an explosion of peat smoke and toasted oak. Slightly medicinal and peppered with sweet spicy notes of cinnamon and clove.
Finish: Licorice and more clove with dried dates, apricots and honeyed vanilla with smoke that lingers for hours.
