Launched in 1988 as part of Diageo’s Classic Malts Selection range. The only standard, aged release from this Highland distillery on the west coast. Lightly peated and matured in American white oak, ex-bourbon casks. Bottled at 43%.
Nose: Warming and sweet with an oily, waxy and nutty delivery, balanced by ripe orchard fruits. Almond fruit cake, malty cereal notes and aromatic orange.
Palate: Mouth coating with some spicy. Filling and warming, with rich fruit-bread, orange zest and clove, before growing drier, still minty, with crisp green apple.
Finish: Quite syrupy at first, then drying, with elegant coating tannins rich in dark chocolate character with just a trace of late, slightly cedary, smoke.
