DESCRIPTION

The Metzer Family Cinsaut 2022 is a limited-production single-varietal Cinsaut from Metzer Family Wines in the Helderberg, Stellenbosch. Produced from a single vineyard planted in 1957, this final vintage from the old bush vines captures the elegance and purity of one of South Africa's historic Cinsaut sites before its removal. The grapes underwent 30% whole-bunch fermentation followed by 10 months' maturation in older French oak barrels, preserving the wine's vibrant fruit and aromatic lift while adding subtle texture and complexity. Bottled unfined and unfiltered at 13% ABV.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Bright aromas of red berries, wild strawberries and cranberries are complemented by delicate floral notes, earthy undertones and hints of white pepper and spice.

Palate: Fresh and beautifully poised, with concentrated red cherry and raspberry fruit supported by lively acidity and fine, tightly knit tannins. The whole-bunch component contributes savoury complexity and a refined, textured mouthfeel while maintaining remarkable elegance.

Finish: Long, vibrant and mineral-driven, with lingering red fruit, subtle spice and silky tannins that leave a fresh, graceful finish.
