DESCRIPTION

A permanent expression from Martell, the cognac brand founded by Jean Martell in Cognac in 1715, first released in 2016. Martell's VSOP cognac is finished in Kentucky bourbon barrels. Because of that finish it is labelled an eau-de-vie de vin (spirit drink) rather than Cognac, since the appellation rules require ageing in French oak only. Bottled at 40%. (Bottle size 750ml)

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Banana and caramelised pear, with vanilla, coconut, spice and menthol.

Palate: Soft and round, with ginger and candied white fruits such as plum.

Finish: Long, with toasted oak from the bourbon barrels.
