The Macallan Fine & Rare collection is a highly-coveted series of vintage releases from some of the best casks the Speyside distillery has to offer. Only a small number of bottles are released each year, with the earliest vintage dating back to 1926. This vintage was distilled in 1990, matured for 22 years in a sherry cask and bottled in 2013. Only 481 bottles were produced. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 58.2%.
Nose: Orange groves at sunset. Chocolate, then dried fruits (raisin, sultana and apricot) accompanied by sweet resinous flavours driven by the oak.
Palate: Soft chocolate leads briefly, exiting, a burst of rich cherry and raisin is mouth coating, uncovering layers of treacle. Spices show late never dominating yet linger to the finish.
Finish: Long and warming.
