Macallan Single Malt Whisky

Founded in 1824 on the banks of the River Spey in Craigellachie, The Macallan is one of Scotland’s most celebrated single malt distilleries. Originally established by Alexander Reid, the distillery passed through several hands before being purchased in 1892 by Roderick Kemp, whose family stewardship shaped The Macallan’s reputation for quality well into the 20th century. Today the distillery is owned by the Edrington Group, following their acquisition of Highland Distillers in 1999.

Long synonymous with European oak sherry cask maturation, The Macallan built its global reputation on the depth and richness these casks provide. Over recent decades, the distillery has broadened its approach, incorporating American oak seasoned with sherry as well as ex-bourbon casks.

From its traditional warehouses to its state-of-the-art modern distillery, The Macallan remains one of Speyside’s most influential whisky producers, recognised worldwide.
