DESCRIPTION
A limited edition from the Lagavulin distillery on Islay, released in 2025 as part of Diageo’s annual Special Releases series. It is the latest edition of the cask strength 12 Year Old, which has appeared in the series almost every year since 2002. It was produced from peated malt (~35ppm) and matured for 12 years in refill casks and in European oak butts seasoned with Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at a cask strength of 56.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)
TASTING NOTES
Nose: Bold and phenolic, with smouldering peat, wood ash and hints of soap and plaster. Even a drop of water closes it considerably.
Palate: Smooth and lightly oily in texture. Robust and sweet, with dried fruit and savoury, spicy and salty notes.
Finish: Long, drying and lightly smoky, with lingering salt and a peaty aftertaste.
