Released in 2024, LÁN was created as a tribute to Yilan, the home county of the Kavalan distillery. The name also symbolises the Chinese character for “orchid,” reflecting Taiwan’s reputation as the Kingdom of Orchids, and the floral style of this release. The whisky is matured separately in the distillery’s three primary cask types before being brought together: bourbon barrels, port casks and STR (shaved, toasted, re-charred) Vinho wine barriques. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured, and bottled at 43%. (750ml)
Nose: Rose, jasmine and orange blossom with creamy vanilla, chocolate, caramel, honeydew melon, and fruit gummies.
Palate: Floral and fruity intertwined with creamy and chocolate notes, culminating in a lingering nutty and cinnamon woody fragrance.
Finish: Lingering notes of nuts and cinnamon, with a subtle sweetness and touch of sandalwood.
