DESCRIPTION

A limited edition from the Isle of Raasay distillery in the Inner Hebrides, released in 2026 as the third instalment of their Oak Species Maturation Series. Where earlier releases in the series used virgin oak, this one was matured in seasoned ex-Oloroso sherry barriques coopered from Hungarian Quercus Petraea from the Zemplén Mountains, an oak known for its slow growth and tight grain. Distilled in the first half of 2021 from 100% Scottish barley, lightly peated (~15ppm) and unpeated spirit were matured separately in the Hungarian oak before being married together, and bottled in March 2026. 8,000 bottles produced. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at a higher strength of 50%.

Deep, round, firey with the slightest hint of peat

"Incredible whisky. Full of depth. Rounded - fires the mouth into acknowledging its presence - but amazingly smooth for such a powerful dram."

Bravo.....

"Wasn't a fan straight of the bat, but as it sat in the glass and opened up I enjoyed it more and more. Peat is a really gentle and there's a lovely gentle rye spiciness and sherry sweetness that compliments it well. Bravo..."
