DESCRIPTION

Launched in 1988 and inspired by the original Jack Daniel’s gentleman distiller and founder, Gentleman Jack is twice run through Jack Daniels’ trademark maple-charcoal filtration, both before being filled into the barrel and again before it's bottled. This second charcoal mellowing is what makes Gentleman Jack different from standard Jack Daniel’s. Bottled at 43%. (Bottle size 750ml)

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Lighter oak and drier on the nose than Old No.7. Vanilla, brown sugar, maple and apple.

Palate: Sweet vanilla, stone fruits and apple.

Finish: Subtle oak that develops into a smooth finish of fruit with maple and floral honey.

"While this is at least a step or two up from the Old No. 7, as a whiskey to sip neat on its own, I would still only place it in the realm of "OK". It's almost like a certain harshness and chemical note is still a bit present in the liquid; even with the second round of charcoal filtering or "mellowing" that takes place after maturation. Having one on hand for mixing or for giving yourself a point of reference for quality might be alright."
