DESCRIPTION

A 2019 Sémillon produced by winemaker Callan Williams under The Garajeest label, using fruit sourced from selected vineyard blocks in the cool-climate Elgin region of South Africa. The grapes were picked late and naturally fermented using indigenous yeast, with fermentation split equally between stainless steel tanks and barrels. The wine was subsequently matured for 12 months in neutral French oak barrels. Bottled at 13.5% ABV.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Lanolin and honeysuckle with subtle herbal notes and restrained older-oak character.

Palate: Concentrated and textured, with citrus, gentle waxy notes and fresh acidity balanced by understated oak.

Finish: Fresh and tapering, with lingering herbal notes and a savoury, slightly saline character.
