From one of the newer and harder-to-find Scottish distilleries, this Daftmill release is one of two annual expressions from the craft Daftmill distillery in the Lowlands. Produced from publican barley grown on the family farm in August 2009, distilled between November and December 2010, matured in 25 first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and bottled in 2023. 6,550 bottles were produced. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at 46%.

Located in the Howe of Fife (northeast of Edinburgh), Daftmill is a traditional farm distillery owned and operated by the Cuthbert family. The distillery only runs in the farm’s quiet periods; mid-summer and winter, sometimes producing as few as 100 casks per year. When not distilling, Francis Cuthbert looks after the estate, growing the malting barley he uses to make his whisky.

OFFICIAL TASTING NOTES

Nose: Clean whisky where you can really appreciate the barley even on the nose.

Palate: Layers of orchard fruit, wood spice and crème brûlée lightly dusted with cinnamon and nutmeg
