Released in 2016 and inspired by the writers, philosophers and scientists of the Age of Enlightenment, this Compass Box limited release is in response to the company falling foul of current regulations by disclosing the composition and age of the whiskies in their blends on the bottle. Instead, with this release, CB have disclosed the contents of the Enlightenment online only, which we replicate here for your reading pleasure: Clynelish (48.2%), Glentauchers (36.7%), Balblair (10.8%) all matured in first-fill American barrels, and Mortlach (4.3%) in rejuvenated American barrels. Only 5,922 bottles are available worldwide. Bottled at 46%.

Nose: Fresh and vibrant with bright apple and pear, vanilla cream and light violet.

Palate: Soft spice, gentle citrus notes and more of those orchard fruit characters.

Finish: A moreish, mouth-watering feel that lingers with the soft apple and spice.
