DESCRIPTION
The Beaumont Hope Marguerite 2024 is the flagship Chenin Blanc from Beaumont Family Wines in Bot River, Walker Bay, South Africa. Named after Hope Marguerite Beaumont, this benchmark barrel-fermented Chenin Blanc is produced exclusively from the estate's two oldest certified Heritage Vineyards, planted in 1974 and 1978. The grapes are naturally fermented with minimal intervention in 400-litre French oak barrels, with 15% new oak, followed by 11 months on the gross lees with regular bâtonnage and partial malolactic fermentation. Bottled at 13% ABV.
TASTING NOTES
Nose: Complex aromas of dried apricot, marzipan and warm spice are complemented by notes of green apple, citrus blossom and subtle oak.
Palate: Rich yet beautifully focused, with layers of ripe orchard fruit, dried apricot, almond and lime supported by a creamy texture from lees ageing. The restrained French oak adds depth without overpowering the wine's vibrant acidity and distinctive mineral character.
Finish: Long, elegant and precise, with lingering citrus, saline minerality and refined oak complexity.
