A Smoky Scottish Take On Balcomes Brimstone
"The peat bursts out of the glass like an over-excited kid trying to show you his new pet hamster. We're talking bushfire and BBQ pork ribs here. The sweet note coats the smokiness and you can't help wanting to reach for a napkin to clean off your sticky, greasy maw from the ribs you must have just eaten. Medium weight, slightly viscous and oily on the palate with a smattering of BBQ rub herbs - a bit of paprika, white pepper and freshly cracked black pepper too, along with some molasses and brown sugar. It reminds me quite a lot of Balcones Brimstone, just a bit more muted. Now all I want to do is rush out and buy a smoker to make them thar ribs!! A very enjoyable whisky, in a fairly different style to your usual Scottish malt offerings."
