DESCRIPTION

Named in honour of Franco Lourens’ wife, this Cape white blend combines old-vine Chenin blanc (62%) from 41-year-old Swartland and 62-year-old Piekenierskloof vineyards, Verdelho (30%) from Stellenbosch, and Grenache blanc (8%) from Piekenierskloof, the latter spending five days on skins. Grapes were gently whole-cluster pressed, fermented without additions, and matured for 10 months in neutral 300L and 500L barrels. Bottled un-fined with only a coarse filtration. Bottled at 13%. TASTING NOTES

Nose: Stone fruit, quince and lemon zest laced with ginger, potpourri and a hint of fynbos and wet stone, underpinned by subtle yeasty savouriness.

Palate: Bright and focused, with soft citrus, greengage and spiced quince flavours supported by a gentle texture from the Grenache blanc skin contact.

Finish: Long and saline, with crisp acidity and a light skin-derived grip. More salty than tannic, it finishes with drive and freshness.
