DESCRIPTION
A permanent expression from GlenAllachie in Speyside, first released in 2023 as part of Meikle Tòir — meaning "big pursuit" in Gaelic — the distillery's peated whisky range under master distiller Billy Walker. Made with mainland peat from St. Fergus, on the northeast coast of Scotland, to a phenol level of 35 ppm, and fermented for 160 hours for a fruit-forward spirit. Matured for 5 years in American oak ex-bourbon barrels before finishing in Chinquapin virgin oak barrels from the Northern Ozark region of Missouri. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at 48%.
TASTING NOTES
Nose: Smoldering oak embers burnt liquorice and honey, with ginger, butterscotch and orange peel.
Palate: Cocoa, crème brûlée and toasted almonds, with cinnamon, aniseed and campfire smoke.
Finish: Sweet and smoky.
