DESCRIPTION

The Glenmorangie core range continues to evolve, with several updates introduced over the past two years. The long-standing Lasanta 12 Year Old has now been replaced by a new 15 Year Old permanent expression, first announced in 2024. Lasanta, Gaelic for warmth and passion, retains the sherry-led style within the range but rather than a shorter finishing period, this new edition benefits from extended maturation in a combination of ex-bourbon, Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. Bottled at 43%. (Bottle size 750ml)

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Rich, aromatic, spicy and deep, with notes of cinnamon, clove and dark chocolate.

Palate: A mouth-watering odyssey bursting with rich spiciness and sun-drenched sweetness. It radiates with explosions of raisin, honeycomb and chocolate-covered hazelnuts lightened by cinnamon breezes.

Finish: Long and satisfying finish with spiced orange and chocolate covered hazelnuts.

Rich Glenmorangie

"The effect that the extra bit of maturation in European oak casks has on the standard ex-bourbon barrel-aged Glenmorangie is great! The extra warm baking spice and toffee aroma along with the rich, mouthcoating palate full of raisins and honey bring an extra level of enjoyment over the 10-year-old, along with a medium to long ginger finish."

Pleasant whiskey - great to get into whiskey appreciation

"I used to love the 12 year old. It was brilliant. But I think where I am now in my whiskey journey I might have outgrown this somewhat. Yes, it is still really good but not so good that it tracks on my radar as something to buy when shopping around for something to experience. I used to love this and will always be fond of it but tasted it recently and it just was not quite on the radar anymore. Great bottle to start your whiskey appreciation journey though"

Sherry Bomb

"I enjoyed this expression, but I still prefer the 10yr old. Still very tasty, but expected more"

Not Bad, Not Brilliant.

"When I first tasted this dram years ago, I absolutely loved it. Tasting it once again today, further along on my Whisky journey and I’m somewhat disappointed. It’s rather underwhelming, not undrinkable, but certainly not brilliant. Simple and flat flavors with little sherry influence, it’s sister Quinta Ruban (while Port cask finished) runs rings around it. If you’re looking for a sherry finished Whisky in my opinion, look elsewhere."

Decent Sherry

"My introduction to this was at the Oyster Box bar in Umhlanga (Durban). I paid a hefty R250 for a dram and this fell way short of my expectations. At that price it definitely isn't worth it. But at around R700? I'm game. Nuts, cinnamon and caramel raisins - almost creamy (ice cream?). Good finish that hangs to your pallete for quite a while!"

Pretty decent

"Drank this at the first ever whisky tasting I did. It's a great introduction into the spicier, richer whiskies and bridges the gap well for those who prefer the sweeter or lighter drams. It's pretty good, not necessarily high on the wish list, but still worth the buy."

Staple sherry

"What a wonderfully (not heavily) sherried whisky!"

Mini Sherry Bomb

"Looking for a sherry an PX flavour without it dominating your palate, then this is a must. There are some that overdo the sherry exposure, not in this case, done to perfection. A standard core offering based on the original with a brief 2yr stint in sherry casks imparting additional delights to an already 1st class dram."
