DESCRIPTION

A single cask release from the Caol Ila distillery on Islay, bottled by Adelphi independent bottlers. Distilled in 2014, matured for 10 years in a first-fill PX sherry hogshead and bottled in 2025. Only 263 bottles were produced. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured, and bottled at a cask strength of 58%. (Bottle size 750ml)

NOTES FROM THE WB TEAM

This is our fourth exclusive release with our friends at Adelphi, following previous bottlings from Caol Ila, Ardnamurchan and Dailuaine. For whisky drinkers with an affinity for peat, the combination of peat and PX sherry is always special, yet remains in short supply. First launched at The Only Whisky Show 2025, and based on unsolicited feedback from attendees, it quickly stood out as the whisky of the show in both Joburg and Cape Town!

The best kind of Peat!

"This is the type of dram that makes one fall in love with peated whisky all over again. The syrupy sweet complexity from the PX cask hits smack bang in the middle of Caol Ila’s undeniably coastal peat, resulting in a superbly moreish and balanced pour (think smoky blackcurrant). A whisky that I simply cannot stop pouring as a result. Second bottle on the way. Whisky of the year contender and without question the best Caol Ila I’ve had in a long time!"

For the Islay fans

"Caol Ila stands tall among Islay malts, and this dram is no exception. From the first inhale, you're greeted with a distinctive and mouthwatering aroma of barbecued pork and sweet smoke and subtle hints of sherried sweetness. There is an oiliness that coats your tongue, and leaves note of smoked meat and roasted cashews followed by light honey glaze that lingers. Ending with a long, rich and unmistakably smoky finish."
