The first bottle of Maker's Mark was bottled in 1958 and featured the brand's distinctive dipped red wax seal. 5 Decades later and the wax seal is still present and now protected by trademark. Maker's Mark is unusual in that the mash bill contains no rye, instead red winter wheat is used, along with corn and malted barley. Bottled at 45%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: Woody oak, caramel, vanilla and wheat prevail in the nose.

Palate: Sweet and balanced with caramel, vanilla and fruity essences.

Finish: Smooth and subtle.

Great daily drinker

"A wonderful sipping bourbon that makes a great daily drinker and offers fabulous value. Not overly complex, however pleasantly sweet with brown sugar, soft spice, Parma violet sweets and floral hints. Dangerously easy to keep pouring."

Decent

"Maker's has been one of my go-to sippers throughout 2020 and recommendable at this price if you're interested. If you want better value-for-money take Buffalo Trace. If you don't mind paying extra, take the Maker's 46. Whatever you choose, you can't go wrong with any of these three bourbons."

Graham B. (3/5)

Enjoyable Bourbon

"A great daily drinking bourbon. This whiskey presents as sweet, honey on toast with some fruit and nut elements. Highly recommended at this price point and comparable to several more expensive bourbons."

"Vanilla, coconut, oak and chewy gingerbread."
