Launched at the beginning of 2020, this is the fourth expression in Wolfburn's Small Batch series, and the first expression from Wolfburn to have been given a finishing period. Matured for 5 years in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels before being finished for six months in port hogsheads. Like previous Wolfburn small-batch releases, Batch 155 was named after the warehouse in which the casks were matured (Warehouse 1), and the specific row in which the casks were located (row 55). A total of 5,300 bottles were produced. Naturally coloured and bottled at 46%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Hints of dried fruits mix with sweet port notes. This is followed by aromas of vanilla, with just a hint of coffee and dark chocolate.
Palate: Rich vinous port notes come to the fore, with overtones of toffee and vanilla. Fruity sweetness coats the palate, with autumn fruit and honey flavours leading to a warm, soft finish.
Finish: Sweet tones and hints of autumn fruit gradually drift away; a glorious trace of port lingers at the very end.
