Grapes for the Trizanne Groendruif Skin Contact Semillon 2022 were harvested during the last week of February and first week of March. The grapes were cooled overnight and destemmed and crushed the next day into an open-top fermenter. The fermentation took place on the skins and allowed to warm up during the fermentation. The wine was left on the skins for a further 2 weeks after primary fermentation, thereafter basket pressed into barrel. Bâtonnage for a month after primary fermentation and then left on the lees and barrel maturation until bottling took place at the end of January 2023. Residual sugar 2.5g/l. 1,347 bottles were produced. Bottled at 11%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Beautiful tropical fruit intensity, with hints of pear and bruised apple.
Palate: Fruit forward with notes of passionfruit, kiwi, pineapple, pear and yellow apples. Lovely concentration and mid-palate texture thanks to the skin ferment.
Finish: Crisp acidity with a lovely refreshing salinity and flinty minerality.
