Produced at the Tokara Winery near Stellenbosch, the base wine for this brandy is made from Chenin Blanc grapes. Distilled in a copper Pruhlo Alambic potstill, the traditional cognac double distillation process is followed. Matured in 300-litre French Limousin oak barrels for a minimum of 10 years, with some barrels maturing as long as 16 years. Bottled at 40%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Fresh vanilla pod, cinnamon and nutmeg greet you on the nose. This is followed by sweet fruit notes of peaches and dried figs. Subtle floral hints of orange blossom and jasmine.
Palate: Rich fruit character on entry, with lovely notes of peaches, dried apricots and caramel. Mid-palate reveals an oily buttery texture with notes of cocoa butter and sweet spice.
Finish: Elegant with a lingering note of vanilla, nutmeg and honey.
