A very special release of a private cask from the Bruichladdich distillery on Islay. This single cask is peated Port Charlotte which was distilled in 2004, matured in a first-fill bourbon barrel (200L) for 14 years and bottled in 2019. Only 222 bottles were produced, each individually numbered. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at a cask strength of 54.3%
The label features an original artwork especially created for the whisky by one of South Africa's most famous artists, William Kentridge. The whisky is entitled Izinyembezi Zenkosikazi, which translates from Zulu as 'Tears of the Queen', and the packaging details the story of the British defeat by the Zulu army at Isandlwana in 1879. Since then isiZulu speakers have been known to called Scotch whisky Izinyembezi Zenkosikazi.
